A Fierce Bond, a Vintage Car, and a First Look to Remember: Sara & Miles

As a photographer and storyteller, there are those rare, magical days when the couple isn’t just in front of the lens, but actively co-creating the art with you. Sara and Miles were exactly that kind of blessing. Theirs is a classic story of love at first sight, blooming into a fierce bond that is somehow both powerfully overwhelming and deeply peaceful. They complement each other in a way that feels almost effortless, a true meeting of perfectly balanced souls who were just as excited about the photography process as I was to capture them.

Miles is a man of incredible thoughtfulness and vision. All throughout the wedding day, he had beautiful moments deliberately planned, coming to the table with his own creative ideas for the images we would capture. Curiously, he was highly motivated by older, vintage wedding images that played on the stereotype of a man running late to his own wedding. We had a blast capturing this concept, which was delightfully ironic, considering Miles is the absolute furthest thing from a reluctant or disorganized groom.

In reality, Miles is a profound, undeniable romantic. He penned a love letter to Sara on simple notebook paper, carefully folding it into an intricate, beautiful heart. He even went out of his way to secure his grandfather’s stunning vintage car so he could ride around in timeless style with his new bride. But it was the tears that fell from his eyes during their first look that truly gave his soft heart away.

And then, there is Sara—the perfect, joyful counterbalance to his deep sentimentality. Just moments before that emotional first look, she leaned over and whispered that she was going to pull a surprise move, warning me to have my camera ready. As she approached her teary-eyed, soon-to-be husband, she playfully reached out and goosed him right on the tush. It was a brilliant, hilarious gesture that shattered the nervous tension and perfectly encapsulated how her quick, surprising humor beautifully grounds his romantic heart.

Following the laughs and happy tears, the ceremony itself was nothing short of breathtaking. The atmosphere was steeped in an elegance and grace that truly matched royalty. Yet, the undeniable magic of Sara and Miles is their ability to transition seamlessly from high elegance to hometown comfort. After the “I dos,” we took that vintage car out to a picturesque small town that felt plucked straight from a Norman Rockwell painting. Eventually, we naturally found our way into the local dive bar. There, surrounded by neon signs and the clatter of billiards, the newlyweds kicked back to shoot some pool, share a few suds, and simply revel in the joy of being husband and wife.

This was a day overflowing with story, joy, and peacefulness. Sara and Miles gave me the ultimate gift as an artist: a canvas of raw, authentic love, punctuated by big laughs, happy tears, and a beautifully balanced partnership.
